One think I like about going home is I get to use my dad’s killer sound system. I usually wake up in a time pocket where in everyone that needs to leave has left and everyone else is still sleeping. That leaves me all alone, free to put the stereo on full blast and play my shit. The crisp highs and the deep lows of my music reverberates against the walls of the living room. Solid…

- Jesa: nope.

stands for: Special Weapons And Tactics. None of which were evident in the Philippine National Police SWAT team yesterday. History shows that almost all countries with special force divisions have created those specific special teams because of a tragic incident that showed a need for something more than the usual. Hopefully this is ours. Hopefully, we will have a kick-ass SWAT team in the future.
We will rise up above this national tragedy.
While it was tragic and a lot of things have to be learned and internalized, let’s also realize that every country screws up big time at one time or another. China had melamin deaths, Tienanmen, etc.. The US has had its massacres too that police could not prevent. So have Israel, France, Mexico—everyone. We are not an exception.
Let’s not beat ourselves up so much that we do lose hope. The thing to do is to make sure it does not happen again. We have too many things going for us as a people. We will learn and we will move on to do better things that will give us a collective sense of pride.

I say beat ourselves up so much that it hurts and we actually change the way we think about how we should run our lives and ultimately our country.
